![]() To help make application code less verbose, Hibernate provides some shortcut methods on the Session interface that let you invoke a query in one line of code. The Criteria interface is very similar it allows you to create and execute object-oriented criteria queries. A Query instance is used to bind query parameters, limit the number of results returned by the query, and finally to execute the query. Queries are written in HQL or in the native SQL dialect of your database. The Query interface allows you to perform queries against the database and control how the query is executed. This helps to keep Hibernate applications portable between different kinds of execution environments and containers. A Transaction abstracts application code from the underlying transaction implementation-which might be a JDBC transaction, a JTA UserTransaction, or even a Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) transaction-allowing the application to control transaction boundaries via a consistent API. Hibernate applications may choose not to use this interface, instead managing transactions in their own infrastructure code. ![]() The Transaction interface is an optional API. The application uses a Configuration instance to specify the location of mapping documents and Hibernate-specific properties and then create the SessionFactory.Įven though the Configuration interface plays a relatively small part in the total scope of a Hibernate application, it's the first object you'll meet when you begin using Hibernate. The Configuration object is used to configure and bootstrap Hibernate. It also holds cached data that has been read in one unit of work and may be reused in a future unit of work (only if class and collection mappings specify that this second-level cache is desirable). The SessionFactory caches generate SQL statements and other mapping metadata that Hibernate uses at runtime. However, if your application accesses multiple databases using Hibernate, you'll need a SessionFactory for each database. ![]() ![]() There is typically a single SessionFactory for the whole application-created during application initialization, for example. The SessionFactory is certainly not lightweight! It's intended to be shared among many application threads. Compared to the Session interface, this object is much less exciting. The application obtains Session instances from a SessionFactory. We sometimes use user session to refer to the HttpSession object. When we use the word session, we mean the Hibernate session. Note that a Hibernate session has nothing to do with the Web-tier HttpSession. We sometimes call the Session a persistence manager because it's also the interface for persistence-related operations such as storing and retrieving objects. Hibernate can detect changes to the objects in this unit of work. It may be easier to think of a session as a cache or collection of loaded objects relating to a single unit of work. The Hibernate notion of a session is something between connection and transaction. Hibernate sessions are not thread-safe and should by design be used by only one thread at a time. This is important because your application will need to create and destroy sessions all the time, perhaps on every request. An instance of Session is lightweight and is inexpensive to create and destroy. The Session interface is the primary interface used by Hibernate applications.

PCR is used to amplify a specific region of a DNA strand (the DNA target). PCR can be extensively modified to perform a wide array of genetic manipulations. As PCR progresses, the DNA generated is itself used as a template for replication, setting in motion a chain reaction in which the DNA template is exponentially amplified. I did play through the campaign solo twice. 3 is an action-packed experience with scripted scares and some creepy moments but it feels more action than horror. The developers clearly tried to take the series in a different direction with this game and it’s obvious the story was written to accommodate the new cooperative gameplay style. 3 expecting a solid action game with lackluster scares and that’s what I got. 3 does feature different endings and the one you see depends on which protagonist ends up with the highest score. The only thing I was really interested in was seeing how the story handles the third child. I like John Carpenter and many of his films, but his direction doesn’t really save the writing from failing to do anything interesting with the characters or plot. 3 and I bring it up because apparently it’s supposed to mean something. Famous filmmaker John Carpenter directed the cinematics for F.E.A.R. 3 is supposed to be an action horror title and I would say it features some awesome action but lacks scares, much like F.E.A.R. Most of the attempts at scares come from all the paranormal activity from the duo’s mother, Alma Wade who is pregnant as a result of raping Michael Beckett at the end of F.E.A.R. In addition to being hunted by Armacham soldiers, they learn they’re also being hunted by a monster formed from the memories of Harlan Wade. 2, the Point Man has been captured by Armacham Soldiers and his brother Paxton Fettel, now a “spectre”, breaks him out of a prison in Brazil and the two form an alliance. 2, I went into this not expecting much so with that mindset, I figured it could only entertain me rather than disappoint, assuming it did not entirely suck. But after my disappointment with F.E.A.R. I’m going to tell you right now, F.E.A.R. 3 was released for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in June, 2011. Developed by Day 1 Studios and published by Warner Bros. 3, which takes things in a different direction by putting a focus on cooperative play. It’s a solid game but also the definition of a disappointing sequel. 2 which has great gunplay but fails at everything else. It not only features great gunplay and incredible enemy AI but also showcases an amazing balance of action and horror that will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way to the end. Similarly to LVP, Rigid Core WPC/SPC flooring is made up of layers, the combination of which leads to a flooring fit for residential, commercial, wet and dry spaces. While most frequently designed to look like traditional hardwood flooring, the first letter - “W” or “S” - refers to the composition of the core layer alone. Rigid Core can be either WPC (Wood-Plastic Composite, or Wood-Polymer Core) or SPC (Stone-Polymer Core). Perhaps the most popular vinyl plank flooring product on the market today, and growing quickly, is Rigid Core Vinyl Plank. These planks do not interlock or float like their Rigid Core counterparts. LVP is a more flexible product than some of the other vinyl products on the market, but its strength is aided by the fact that it is a glue-down flooring – permanently affixed to the subfloor with adhesive. 12 mil up to 20 mil thickness are standard commercial wear layers under 12 are rated for light commercial and residential use. Wear layer thickness varies from 6 mil on the thin end, and 30 mil on the high end. The wear layer thickness typically determines the usage – thinner are residential and thicker wear layer planks are used for commercial floors. The wear layer is a thin, clear protective coating that makes the flooring scratch and stain-resistant. On top of it all, the most critical layer – the wear layer. On top of the core is the “vinyl layer” which is printed with the pattern and color – traditionally mimicking wood or stone. The central core is what makes most LVP “ water-resistant ” rather than “waterproof”, as the central core layer is often not fully waterproof, however, it does provide the strength for the flooring. The bottom layer is a “backer board” – a flexible base made of PVC for stability. LVP is a composite product comprised of several layers, each working together to create a resilient, low-maintenance flooring. Confused yet? Let’s go a little deeper on LVP. While all LVP is vinyl plank, not all vinyl plank is LVP. For the purposes of this piece, let’s use “LVP” as the catch-all term, as it’s becoming in the flooring industry. Generally speaking, however, LVP is the more common and more frequently used acronym. LVT encompasses all vinyl products designed to mimic tile or stone. You may occasionally hear people use the term “LVT,” which stands for Luxury Vinyl Tile. LVP covers all vinyl designed in planks, giving the look of wood floors with all the features and benefits of vinyl. This piece will help you understand the differences between them but remember – your professional partners from The Good Guys know all of this like the back of their hand, and are available to answer any questions and address any concerns. But what are the differences? Glad you asked. However, vinyl flooring today is a highly engineered, robust product commonly referred to with those pesky acronyms: LVP (sometimes LVT), WPC and SPC. The similarities between the great products offered in the world of vinyl today, and those of the past are pretty minimal: they’re both a synthetic, man-made variant, made to look like a natural material at a typically lower price-point. When we say “ vinyl flooring ” many people immediately think of the sheet/roll flooring Mom had in the kitchen of their childhood home or the stick down tiles from college – you know the ones that you ripped a hole in when you dropped stuff on them while making nachos to watch the big game?! If that’s what you’re thinking, that ain’t it. ![]() But what are all of these acronyms? LVP? WPC? WTH? We’ll get into LVP, some SPC and some WPC for good measure, as well as the differences between them, and the pros and cons of each. Vinyl plank flooring is growing in popularity in both residential and commercial applications. Let’s talk Vinyl - specifically vinyl plank flooring. ![]() ![]() Sometimes, it helps to narrow the focus a bit.
